DEEP SEA DELIRIUM

Every time I wear this dress I feel like a shimmering mermaid which is why it is one of my absolute favorites. I know I am not alone in my love of mermaids, there is just something about these graceful creatures of the deep that feminine energy is drawn to. Perhaps it is their ability to live and breath in a world entirely their own, entirely untouched by humans. Perhaps it is their easy grace and ability to glide effortlessly through the waves. It could be their freedom to explore depths that our feet restrict us form. In any case Mermaid lore is something that will likely never die out in popularity.

My personal favorite version of these water spirits are the Sirens from Greek mythology. They were creatures of inexplicable beauty that would lure sailors to their demise on the shores of the islands they inhabited. The draw I find from their myth is dangerous beauty. Often feminine’s are written off as the weaker of the two energies and I personally love any instance where feminine energy is flexing its power.

By allowing ourself to step into the feminine realms of fantasy and align ourselves with mermaid energy we are signaling to our soul that we want to explore its depths, we are signaling that we know there is infinite treasure within our beings to be brought to the surface. Do not think it is frivolous to have an active imagination. Fantasy is the space of conception for manifestation. It also provides us with clues to the inner workings of our subconscious. So, today, dive in to the depths of all that you are.

Under the sea is the place where water spirits roam free, bathing in tranquility and free from a world of human hostility.

With a mermaids key I unlock the doors to my destiny. I swim through darkness with the knowledge that I am the light, I make my way to the surface where my dreams take flight.

Destiny is an individual with many layers of expression and this is truly reflected in their sense of style. I have seen them looking completely at home while colorful and also while adorned in black. I personally believe the biggest display of dope fashion sense is the ability to shift your aesthetic as your mood shifts. With Destiny I never know what flavor of expression to expect with them and it’s truly beautiful. Destiny is also an extremely gifted cook. I have had the fortune of receiving many meals at their hands and I have never been disappointed. Every time I’ve been able to feel the love and energy they provided in the meal. WILD HEARTS CAN'T BE BROKEN

In truth I don’t have a concrete reason why, but when I put on this outfit I decided that I was a hummingbird. Something I do on a normal basis is choose what creature I am for the day based on what outfit I am, this is probably the seed that sprouted into Alien Aesthetic now that I think on it. Usually I come up with some type of hybrid creature that I think would be cute, but the actual power that lies in connecting with animal energy can’t be denied. As a race humans have gotten lost in the idea of separation and that we are somehow superior to the other beings on this planet. The simple truth is that we are one, coming from the same great source of creation. In a simpler world animals were revered by Native People as equals. In Native American mythology you will often hear animals referred to as Brother or Sister. In mythology animals and people are easily able to communicate, neither one is vying for position as superior. They simply exist in harmony.

Though in this modern world I’m limited to daydreams of this type of coexistence I am still able to actively work with animal energy and totems. I find particular resonance with bears, wolves, owls, snakes and spiders. I feel that each of these animals carries a unique wildness that exists in my soul. Every single being on this planet has an Anima, or wild nature within. Sometimes it can be difficult to let our wild side take the lead if we are worried about the perceptions of others. In these moments I find it extremely beneficial to step out of the mind and into the energy of one of my spirit animals. If I want to add sensuality and femininity to my dance I focus on the energy of the snake, when I need to disconnect from those around me I become the bear, in moments where I must honor my intuition I become the wolf, when I need to see the higher perspective I am the owl, when my hands must take over and create I become the spider. To connect to your totem animals you must simply look within. You can’t “choose” or find the wrong guide. It will simply be what it is meant to be for you. By embracing your wild nature life can begin to feel a lot less constricting and a lot more worth adventuring through. We are not meant to be prim little vessels of propriety. We are meant to run, roar, make wild love and dive in headfirst into our nature.

Celestial Bear, Guardian of the West, keeper of hidden truths, it is you who taught me I can be solitary and powerful too.

With a heart deeper than the sea and a mind higher than the sky I live in a world of fantasy and it’s no real wonder why.

“If I had someone ask me to explain in my words what my unique fashion expression is, I would look at them and do a twirl and ask, how do you feel when you look at me? ...Inspired? Confident? Comfortable?

I know people say you dress for yourself and shouldn’t dress for anyone else but in my opinion, I dress for both sides of that coin. Confidence, inspired and comfortable are 3 words not many people can truly express with certainty, and I was one of them.

Finding your unique fashion expression comes after discovering who you are or who you inspire to be. When I was 19 I started building up the courage to finally look at myself and dare to love every imperfectly perfect part of my being. Personality, body, weight, height, skin, stretch marks, quite literally, all of me.

Influenced by almost every great fashion era, being the 20s, 50s, 60s, 70s, 90s, I started to put together pieces that made me feel inspired, confident and comfortable. I took the risks, I challenged and dared myself to be bold. I wanted to shake the normal standard of what a confident women should look like in this day and age.

Let me leave you with one hair of advice.

You should be yourself and others will follow suite, after all, that’s how we will change the world.

SHE'S A HANDSOME WOMAN

What I loved most about this look was the combination of my soft shimmery dress and old torn leather vest which clashed beautifully with a blend of masculinity and femininity. I am a woman who is both deeply sensitive and feminine but also powerful in my masculine energy as well. Growing up as a girl with masculine traits made me feel uncomfortable and as if I wasn’t “lady like” enough. Now that I have been blessed with the understanding that it is the balance of both energies where I feel the most myself, the most beautiful, I want to share this knowledge as far and as wide as I can.

Finding this eternal balance within ourselves brings peace to all aspects of our lives, quite literally. By knowing when you are in your feminine energy vs when you are in your masculine energy you can better determine when and where to focus your attention. The moments we are in our feminine energy are best used for creative expression, sensual expression, stillness, honing our patience and practicing the art of surrender. The moments we are in are masculine energy are best used for speaking our truths, stepping out of our comfort zones, decision making and above all stepping into the required action to reach our goals.

Finding your internal balance also sets you up for harmonious romantic partnership as well as relationships as a whole. If you are not in balance

what tends to happen is you attract partners who reflect your imbalances in someway. The more you become one with yourself the more you attract partners who mirror this quality until you simply find yourself with the individual or individuals who feel like home.

Finding balance is simply about finding out who you are and finding which ways to honor all of what you find. To discover your natural energetic rhythms you must simply tune in and pay attention to yourself, your moods. Our soul tends to be quite honest with us when it comes to our moods, the difficulty lies with listening. Slow down enough to hear your internal voice. It will tell you whether it is time for patience and internal manifestation or if it is a time for action and deliberate intention. Accountability is key here. It is all too easy to brush certain things under the rug especially if it will require change of us. It is so important to embrace change, especially if this change can lead you to living a more peaceful and fulfilling life.

The gender roles that we live with in our society in truth place every single one of us in a box. By fully understanding that we are all made up of the same energetic components, just expressed differently we could living in freedom without the pressures of living up to our gender roles. For example, My partner should not feel obligated to pay for every meal or outing because he presents as masculine nor should I be expected to be a vision of modesty and chastity because I present as feminine. We are all masculine. We are all feminine. Women deserve to be as assertive and dominating as they please and men deserve to shed as many tears as they feel without being written off as a freak of nature. Every individual in between who doesn’t associate with either gender label deserves the freedom to simply exist without being put into a black or white box. By realizing this we can drop the veils of separation and simply be ourselves with one another.

To live in a more balanced, harmonious world it starts with all of us individually. We are connected eternally so don’t underestimate the impact you can make simply by finding your own harmonious center.
