The essence of this card is the embodiment of the sacred peace that unfolds when we allow ourselves to detach from all worldly energy for a time and instead connect only to the things that are the most nourishing and complimentary to an existence bathed in divine love. Asylum can come in as many forms as there are individuals on this planet. The key is that it provides an energy of respite from the day to day and reminds us of our divinity and place within this world. For some Asylum may come in the arms of a devoted lover, for others it could be in a space of total solitude and for others still it could be in a room bursting with the energy of their closest companions. Asylum can come in the form of a good book, a favorite song and even in the aroma of your favorite meal or grandmother’s perfume. Whichever form asylum takes for you just know that peace is a crucial part of our experience on this planet if we hope to make it a truly beautiful one. No matter how busy your schedule may be there is always time for a moment of respite from your demands. Always. Remember, time is of the essence which in truth means time only holds the power of that which we assign to it. So, if you’re always telling yourself you have no time, there will be no time for anything, whereas if you acknowledge time is as fluid and changeable as life itself you will very likely find there is enough room in your world for a schedule balanced with moments of peace and pleasure.

Today I invite you to ask, “What is my personal asylum?” From there grant yourself the gift of being totally immersed in that sacred space.

With the energy of slay the ego we are asked to wield the sword of integrity and cut away from any person, place or thing in our personal world that keeps us from realizing and embodying our true potential. Tricks of the ego come in many forms so it is crucial to have a clear line of communication between you and your higher guidance as well as to your own soul, so that you are able rise to the heights of soul satisfaction with no impediment. An example of an ego trap could be the little voice inside that whispers you aren’t ______ enough to achieve your dreams, they could be in the forms of relationships that do more harm than good, they can appear in the secret comparisons we harbor between ourselves & others and also in the environments we align ourselves to that are more about a show of success than actual happiness. Be particularly mindful of “worldly” energy which can ensnare the ego and distract you from your true path. In particular be mindful of social media and consciously choose to engage only with accounts that allow you to stay in a balanced place of appreciation. Today, we are asked to trade away our hold on appearances and detrimental associations in exchange for true freedom. We are asked to flush away the notion that there could be anything holding us back from fulfillment other than our own ego and the corners in which it hides.

Do not be ashamed of the ego for in truth it can be one of our most beneficial tools. It can be the glaring light that forces us to notice that grace of our highest self.

When Eternal life appears before us we are asked for the moment to disengage from our worldly worries and concerns to sink into a very sacred truth that can in its way instantly lighten the load of whichever burdens we are carrying. This truth is that life has no ending, no beginning but is in fact an endless cycle of the transference of light. By recognizing that this is not your first dance in the choreography of incarnation you can then drop into your internal pools of wisdom to discern insights of value which you can apply to literally any circumstances you find yourself in.

With this knowledge you can also begin to release fears of dying and death which in truth haunt countless individuals. Why fear something that is simply a gateway into new dimensions of light? Would you fear reaching the end of the first book in a series while knowing the sequel is due to follow? Some may ask what is the point for striving for success and achievement in this lifetime if we are to begin again. The answer is thus, the soul remembers, the spirit remembers. Though we cannot perceive them on a surface level the experiences of all our lifetimes journey with us eternally. This is why you can look certain individuals in the eye and sense that they are a truly old soul by the depth of their stare. This is why moments arise where you are inexplicably skilled at something you have no recollection of ever trying before. This is why many of us are drawn to places, cultures and beliefs that seemingly have no connection to our background. This is why we have countless inexplicable fears and desires. Most importantly this is why many of us are born with a sense of purpose that ignites as a fire within our bellies. The soul acts as a compass in ways that our human vessel can’t begin to fathom.

Today, if you find yourself worried about the future or questioning the past I invite you to ground yourself, sink into your roots and remind yourself this life is an eternal rhythmic flow, one your soul remembers all the dance steps to even if you don’t.
